From one storefront to multiple locations across Chicago, Dori Isufi didn’t just build a business she built something people line up for.
As the owner of Molly’s Cupcakes, Dori visited the Lewis University Innovation Hub to share what it really takes to grow a brand from early uncertainty to scaling a beloved name in a competitive market.
Her message was simple: entrepreneurship isn’t polished it’s persistent.
Speaking to students across several College of Business organizations, including the Women in Business Club, Dori walked through the realities behind the growth of Molly’s Cupcakes. From taking risks and trusting her instincts to learning how to lead, hire, and adapt her story offered a real look at what happens behind the scenes of a successful brand.
And yes there were cupcakes.
But what stayed with students wasn’t just the product it was the process.
Dori emphasized the importance of relationships, consistency, and showing up even when things don’t go as planned. Whether you’re building in food, technology, or any other space, the fundamentals remain the same: start with something you care about, and commit to figuring it out.
Today, Molly’s Cupcakes is known for its signature center-filled creations and award-winning flavors but it all started with a single idea and the willingness to take a chance.
We’re also proud to share that Molly’s Cupcakes is now a partner of the Innovation Hub at Lewis University, strengthening the connection between local business leaders and the next generation of founders.
And this is just the beginning Dori will return to campus as a judge for the Br. Joel Damian Business Pitch Competition, continuing to invest her experience into student entrepreneurs ready to build what’s next.
Because at the Innovation Hub, we’re not just building businesses we’re building relationships, opportunities, and founders.
